Revel in the Magic of the Holiday Season at Highlandtown Train Garden

12.10.2020

Many people find that trains create a wintry sense of nostalgia, taking them back to their childhood. With steam rising, the whistles blowing, and the chugging of the wheels along the tracks, you’ll hear and feel the train as it approaches, cutting through the seasonal chill.

On a smaller scale, a train garden brings its own sense of nostalgia as it celebrates the holiday season. With snow-flocked trees and miniature figures, train enthusiasts, curious children, and those seeking a bit of holiday cheer unite over their love of all things winter railroad.

This is as true as ever at Baltimore’s Highlandtown Train Garden, a longtime city tradition that became a more formal Highlandtown Main Street project just over a decade ago. With the assistance of enthusiastic volunteers, local business’ donations, and the Baltimore City Fire Department, this spectacular showing of miniature trains, joined by local hotspots and business donors, will bring a smile to the face of even the strongest Scrooge.

If you’re of the opinion that snowfall and trains best represent the holiday season, you needn’t look any further than the Highlandtown Train Garden for a bit of railroad-inspired nostalgic fun.
